“Blair’s Inspiring Journey to Employment and Independence with are-able: Transforming Lives through SLES Services”

Blair’s journey with are-able has been nothing short of inspiring. As a young man who was losing interest in school, he found a new sense of purpose and direction with are-able’ School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) service, thanks to the help of his Employment Preparation & Engagement Consultant (EPEC), Katie Learey. Together, they secured work experience for Blair on a local farm, where his strong work ethic, passion for farming, and dedication caught the attention of his employers, who offered him a full-time job on the farm.

Since then, Blair’s life has been transformed. He has gained financial stability, obtained his driver’s license, and found a fulfilling job that he truly enjoys. Blair’s accomplishment of completing a Cert 3 qualification in agriculture and farming while working full-time on the farm is a testament to his determination and hard work, and he is incredibly grateful for the support he received from are-able along the way.

Reflecting on his journey, Blair shared, “I didn’t like school anymore and really wanted to work on a dairy farm. They helped me find a farm with really nice people. I am very thankful.”
