Building your confidence with technology

  • When participating in this course, learners will develop the basic skills required to use a range of digital devices such as computers, tablets and smartphones. This course has been designed for people who are wanting to build their confidence with technology and develop new skills for employment or future study purposes.
  • This course is free of charge for eligible participants and can be used as a step towards other non-accredited or accredited learning programs.

Preparing you for future study

  • This course helps learners to develop the study skills required to participate in adult and vocational education courses. It is a suitable program for people who have not participated in education for a long time and require support as they transition back into study.
  • This course is free of charge for eligible participants and can be used as a step towards other non-accredited or accredited learning programs.

This course is a perfect starting point for those who would like to pursue a career in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector. When participating in this course, you will:

  • Be provided with an overview of the Early Childhood Education and Care industry

  • Learn about industry expectations, legal responsibilities, duty of care and mandatory reporting requirements

Learn about studying Certificate III in Individual Support and/or Certificate IV in Disability. This free course offers an introduction into the skills you need to pursue a career in the Aged Care or Disability sectors, while working with our supportive trainers to develop confidence for seeking future employment.

Warrnambool Numeracy Commencing Term 2 2024

This program combines General Literacy for Adults with General Numeracy for Adults. Learners also have the option to participate in only one of the programs (literacy or numeracy).

Course details:

Literacy: This program has been designed for learners who are wanting to develop their reading, writing and spoken English skills for employment or future study purposes. Learners of this program will complete tasks that focus on:

  • Developing basic grammatical knowledge and skills (e.g. spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, sentence structuring, phonemic awareness etc.)
  • Developing reading and comprehension skills with a variety of text types (e.g. workplace documents, reports, procedures, visual texts, charts/graphs, tables etc.)
  • Writing/constructing a variety of text types (reports, persuasive texts, procedures, narrative texts, data representations etc.)
  • Developing confidence with verbal communication (speaking, listening and use of language).

Numeracy:  This program has been designed for learners who are wanting to develop their mathematical problem solving skills for employment or future study purposes. The following concepts are covered across this program:

  • Basic equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Numeric Conversions (percentages, decimals and fractions)
  • Measurement
  • Time
  • Money
  • Directions
  • Using collected data/statistics to identify patterns and relationships.

10 x 3 hour training days (Monday mornings between 9am and 12pm)

Learners of this course also have the option to participate in the afternoon numeracy classes.

General Literacy for Adults is a pre-accredited program that has been designed for learners who are wanting to develop their reading, writing and spoken English skills for employment or future study purposes. Learners of this program will complete tasks that focus on:

  • Developing basic grammatical knowledge and skills (e.g. spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, sentence structuring, phonemic awareness etc.)
