Lincoln’s journey began with the School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) program offered by are-able, where he gained work experience as a cleaner at the Murray Downs Golf & Country Club. His ambition and relentless work ethic soon caught the eye of the club’s head chef, Jeremy Johnson. Recognising Lincoln’s potential, Jeremy offered him a full-time apprentice chef position in the kitchen.
Transitioning from a cleaner to an apprentice chef presented its challenges, but Lincoln’s tenacity and determination shone through every step of the way. Throughout this transformative journey, are-able provided crucial assistance and support.
One significant milestone for Lincoln was obtaining his driver’s license. Lincoln’s Employment Consultant, Jacki Watts, worked closely with Lincoln to prepare him for his driving test. With practice sessions and the use of a company car, Lincoln achieved success on his first attempt, gaining his P’s—a significant step towards independence.
Lincoln’s dedication and hard work have paid off. He now thrives as an apprentice chef at Murray Downs Golf & Country Club. His journey showcases the transformative power of tailored support and unwavering determination.
