Mental Health First Aid Graduates: Making a Difference in Portland
We have some fantastic news to share with our Portland community! Eight dedicated disability support workers have recently completed our 12-hour Mental Health First Aid course with are-able Education and Training and have earned their Mental Health First Aid Accreditation. We are thrilled to congratulate them on this incredible achievement, and we know that they will be able to support their participants, colleagues, and community even better with the skills and knowledge they have gained.
Our Mental Health First Aid course is designed to give participants an understanding of common mental health illnesses and how to provide initial support to someone who may be experiencing mental health problems. This course is essential for anyone looking to support the mental health of those around them, and it is particularly relevant for disability support workers who often work with people experiencing complex mental health needs.
The feedback from our recent graduates has been overwhelmingly positive. One student remarked, “It was really good, and so relevant.” Another student was pleasantly surprised by how much they learned, saying, “I wish I had done this years ago. I have learned more than I expected to.” We are delighted to see that our students are gaining valuable insights and tools that will enable them to better support their communities.
